London Rubbish Removal Modern Slavery Commitment

London Rubbish Removal is firmly committed to preventing modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation in every part of our operations and supply chains. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to identify, prevent, and address the risk of modern slavery in connection with our waste collection and rubbish removal services.

This statement is made on behalf of London Rubbish Removal and applies to all employees, contractors, agency staff, and suppliers who work with or on behalf of our business.

Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery

We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly work with any organisation or individual involved in such practices, and we expect the same commitment from all parties in our supply chain.

Our leadership team is responsible for ensuring that modern slavery risks are understood and effectively managed. All managers are required to promote ethical conduct, encourage a culture of openness, and take immediate action where concerns are raised or issues are identified.

Our Operations and Supply Chain

London Rubbish Removal provides waste management and rubbish removal services across London and the surrounding areas. Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles, equipment, fuel, uniforms, technology, and subcontracted labour and transport services.

We recognise that certain areas of our supply chain, including manual labour and outsourced services, may be more vulnerable to exploitation and modern slavery. As a result, we focus our attention and controls on higher-risk categories and work proactively with suppliers to mitigate those risks.

Supplier Standards and Due Diligence

We expect all suppliers and contractors to comply with applicable employment and human rights laws and to uphold standards consistent with our zero-tolerance stance. Before entering new relationships, we conduct due diligence that may include assessing ownership, labour practices, use of subcontractors, and geographic risk.

Suppliers are required to confirm that they do not engage in forced, bonded, or involuntary labour and that workers are free to leave employment with reasonable notice. We discourage excessive reliance on recruitment fees, document retention, or other practices that could trap workers in exploitative conditions.

Supplier Audits and Ongoing Monitoring

To support our commitment, we conduct proportionate supplier audits and checks, focusing on those providers identified as being at higher risk due to sector, location, or use of agency labour. These audits may include site visits, worker interviews where appropriate, reviews of employment documentation, and confirmation of right-to-work processes.

Where concerns are identified, we work with the supplier to put a corrective action plan in place within clear timeframes. Failure to address serious issues or to comply with our standards may result in suspension or termination of the business relationship.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

We encourage all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery as soon as they arise. Concerns can be raised directly with line managers, senior management, or via our confidential whistleblowing arrangements.

Reports can be made anonymously where local laws permit, and we do not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against those who raise concerns in good faith. All reports will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and handled sensitively, with appropriate remedial action taken where necessary.

Training and Awareness

We provide training and guidance to relevant staff to help them recognise the signs of modern slavery and understand how to report concerns. This includes operational management, procurement staff, and team members who work closely with subcontractors and agency labour providers.

Awareness of modern slavery risks is reinforced through internal communications, updates to procedures, and regular review of supplier performance, ensuring that our policies are understood and applied in day-to-day operations.

Annual Review and Continuous Improvement

This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by our senior management team to ensure that it remains effective, accurate, and aligned with evolving legislation and best practice. As part of this review, we evaluate the effectiveness of our controls, supplier audits, training programmes, and reporting mechanisms.

We are committed to continuous improvement and will update our processes and safeguards where necessary to respond to emerging risks or lessons learned. London Rubbish Removal remains dedicated to conducting business ethically, respecting human rights, and contributing to the eradication of modern slavery in all its forms.
